COVID-19 UPDATE

Open adoption hours suspended indefinitely.

Still adopting cats out by appointment only for approved adopters!

Fill out our adoption application to be approved.

Due to concerns surrounding the current outbreak of COVID-19, Gifford has decided to suspend open adoption hours indefinitely. We will still accept appointments from approved adopters! More information below!

We recognize that the situation is constantly evolving and there is new information available every day. This decision was made in an effort to protect the safety of our staff and volunteers, and the public. We are implementing even more extensive cleaning and disinfecting protocols, with increased and frequent attention to the high touch traffic zones (doorknobs, light switches, etc.) and continuing to have plenty of hand sanitizer available.

The shelter will be fully staffed to care for our cats throughout this situation. We will still be adopting out cats, by appointment only. What better way to spend your self-quarantine than with a cuddle buddy?!

If you are an approved adopter or are interested in adopting and you were planning on coming in to our open adoption hours, don't worry! We are accepting private appointments from any approved adopters and extending our availability for these appointments outside of the typical adoption hours!

However, if you or someone you have recently been in close contact with is under quarantine for suspected exposure to COVID-19, we ask that you refrain from visiting the shelter. You can find the most accurate information from the CDC regarding COVID-19 and pets here.

More information on how to schedule an adoption appointment:

  • Private adoption appointments are limited to approved adopters ONLY. If you have not yet filled out an application, please do so here: Adoption Application. If you have filled out an application but haven't heard from anyone yet, please be patient! We are trying to process applications as quickly as possible.

  • If you are an approved adopter seeking to make an appointment:

    • Please send an email to info@giffordcatshelter.org with the following information:

      • Subject line: Appointment Request

      • Approved Adopter's name (as it appears on the application)

      • Provide 3 (three) days/times that you are available for a 30 minute appointment. Please keep in mind that these are first come, first serve and we may not be able to accommodate your first choice, but we will try our best!

      • Please WAIT until you have received a return email to consider the appointment confirmed.

Thanks for understanding and don't forget to wash your hands!

Sincerely,

Gifford Team
